JANUARY WORKSHOPS & DEMOS
THE CRAFT BARN STUDIO &DEMO PROGRAMME FOR JANUARY 2010

WORKSHOPS : These are usually half day sessions lasting 2½ hours. They are designed to help you to recreate at least one complete project. Cost £10 per session unless otherwise stated
MASTER CLASSES : These can be a half day or full day depending on the topic and are designed to give you in depth knowledge around specific techniques and products. They will help you to gain new skills and to get the most from your crafting. Cost £10 for half day and £20 for whole day unless otherwise stated
START TIMES: AM and All day sessions start at 10:30am, PM sessions 2pm and Evenings at 6:30pm Except Sunday when AM classes start at 10am and pm at 1PM
GENERAL INFO : We supply everything you need to complete the projects – except personal photos where these are required. We prefer that you do not bring your own general craft supplies with you as this can cause confusion.
CANCELLATION POLICY : If you have to cancel, we ask for at least 3 days notice if you wish to qualify for a refund or to rebook. If we cancel we will give you as much notice as possible & offer you a refund or transfer.
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY : In order to help you to choose, we have given an indication as to the level of difficulty. ☺suitable for beginners ☺☺ suitable for people with some knowledge of basic techniques ☺☺☺ suitable for advanced crafters.
SATURDAY 2ND – CAROLE CANN–
☺AM: TATTERED BOUQUET – Create your own pearlescent papers using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and Cosmic Shimmer Misters then turn them into beautiful flowers and leaves using the Spellbinder and Nestability dies. The flowers are great as embellishments on cards or you can turn them into a bouquet which makes a lovely gift for a special friend or mum.
☺☺PM: METAL VALENTINE – use Ferro paint with Dreamweaver stencils and metal to create a lovely manly Valentine card for your special hunny!
THIS IS THE FIRST DAY OF OUR ONE WEEK STOCK CLEARANCE SALE – WE NEED TO MAKE ROOM FOR ALL THE NEW PRODUCT LINES I’VE BEEN COVETING RECENTLY (AND THOSE STILL TO COME AT THE TRADE SHOW!). MORE DETAILS WILL FOLLOW ON THE BLOG AND IN STORE.
DUE TO THE SALE WE WON’T HAVE A FORMAL DEMO BUT THE CUTTLEBUG AND SLICE WILL BE OUT FOR ANYONE WHO’S INTERESTED!
SUNDAY 3rd LEXIE WILSON - MOTHER AND DAUGHTER SCRAPBOOK CLUB GROUP 1
☺AM: Club meets first Sunday of the month, and is a group of mums and school age children. It’s a lovely way to create new memories as well as preserve existing ones plus pass information down from generation to generation. THIS CLUB IS CURRENTLY FULL
MONDAY 4th : CRAFTY DIETERS CLUB – WE ARE LOOKING FOR ADDITIONAL MEMBERS FOR THIS CLUB
If you want support to lose weight then this is the club for you. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Cash reward to the person who loses most weight each week and a craft workshop who could ask for more!

FRIDAY 8th : CAROLE CANN
☺AM: A STEP FURTHER WITH METAL (follow on to the beginners metal class), add to your sampler book with more techniques to help you get the most from metals
☺PM: WOOD AND METAL – create a beautiful keepsake with metal and our lovely hinged wooden icons
SATURDAY 9th: CAROL COCKBAIN – NEW TECHNIQUES WITH DREAMWEAVER STENCILS & PASTE
☺AM : This workshop includes stencils and pastes combined with Cosmic Shimmer embossing powders (£12.00)
☺PM: This afternoon is all about Pearlescent Paste on Acetate with Glimmer Mist frames, there will be a bit of Cuttlebugging as well! (£12.00)
DEMO: KIM PIGGOTT – CUTE CARDS USING THE MOTIVET STAMPS AND DISTRESS INKS
SUNDAY 10th : LEXIE WILSON - SCRAPBOOK CLUB GROUP 2 – THIS CLUB STILL HAS A FEW SPACES
☺AM: Club meets 2nd Sunday of the month, is open to all and is beneficial whether you are starting out or are more experienced. You will create complete layouts each week with the help of Lexie, an avid scrapper herself.
MONDAY 11th : CRAFTY DIETERS CLUB
☺Starts 6:30pm and includes a crafting workshop with Carole Cann
FRIDAY 15th : CAROL COCKBAIN – DREAMWEAVER MASTERCLASS (£25)
THIS IS YOUR ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO USING DIFFERENT PASTES AND COLOURING TECHNIQUES (we won’t be running this class again until March)
☺ALL DAY: Carol takes you through everything you need to know to make great projects using the Dreamweaver products. In this class you will work with Dreamweaver stencils and pastes including the crackle and pearlescent pastes you will also use gold leaf and glitter
SATURDAY 16TH : KIM PIGGOTT – PRETTY CARDS WITH HOUSE MOUSE AND DISTRESS INK
☺AM: SNUGGLE BUNNY : These cards are so cute they will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside!
☺PM: GERONIMO – More cards using the wonderful House Mouse stamps – as well as being cute these have a fun side too
DEMO: CAROLE CANN – TICK TOCK CLOCKS WITH PAPERARTSY
SUNDAY 17th : JANE COLLMAN – COPIC MASTERCLASS
This is Jane’s first class for some time and those of you who know her will know that this is a wonderful milestone
☺AM: learn how to use these fantastic pens to create professional looking shading and colouring. You will also use Magenta stamps
☺PM: Repeat of the morning class
MONDAY 18th CRAFTY DIETERS CLUB
☺Starts 6:30pm and includes a crafting workshop with Carole Cann
FRIDAY 22nd: CAROL COCKBAIN
☺AM: SHUTTER AND SPRINGER CARDS using Inkadinkdado stamps, these fun shaped cards are simple when you know how but great for a bit of wow
☺☺PM: GOLD LEAF AND ACETATE – using Carol’s own Florabundi stamps this is a beautiful technique with real impact on a card
SATURDAY 23rd : KAY CARLEY
☺AM: FANCY FLOURISHES - Kay will help you to use her Fancy Flourish stamps to build and make your own backgrounds
☺PM: FUNKY FLOWERS : Kay shows you how to use the different flower and leaf elements from the Funky Flowers stamp sheet with some masking to make up your own flower compositions
DEMO: CAROL COCKBAIN – FOLLOW CAROL’S TIPS TO MAKE BEAUTIFUL BACKGROUNDS USING BRILLIANCE INKS
SUNDAY 24th – LINA MACDERMOTT
☺AM: AN INTRODUCTION TO WATERCOLOUR TECHNIQUES
☺PM: CHEAT WITH WATERCOLOURS – use Lina’s lightbox technique to achieve that hand drawn and painted look (shh! we won’t tell if you don’t!)
MONDAY 25th : CRAFTY DIETERS CLUB

FRIDAY 29th: CUTTLEBUG DAY WITH CAROLE CANN
☺AM : CUTTLEBUG STARTER CLASS – if you have often thought about getting a Cuttlebug or similar machine and are not sure if it would work for you then this is the perfect class. We will take you right through from opening the box to creating basic projects.
☺PM: CUTTLEBUG MASTERCLASS – learn to think outside the box and make the most of your Cuttlebug. We will help you to look at different ways to use nestabilities, show you how to use brass and other stencils, use inks with your embossing folders and many more tips and hints to get you using your machine to its full potential! (£12.00)
SATURDAY 30th : CAROLE CANN – INKY PINKIES!
☺AM: Create different background effects using acetate plus alcohol inks, glimmer mists and distress inks. In addition to the inky fingered techniquey bit, you will use the backgrounds to create a complete card
☺PM: This afternoon get your hands dirty with glossy card and Viva products again you’ll create some different and really interesting backgrounds and use one to create a completed card.
DEMO: LEXIE WILSON – WHY SLICE? SEE HOW TO USE THIS LOVELY PORTABLE DIE CUTTING SYSTEM
SUNDAY 31st: CHRISTINE DARK – EASEL CARDS USING LITTLE CLAIRE STAMPS AND COPIC PENS
This is a really popular style of card at the moment and we have a few examples in the shop
☺AM: LUSCIOUS LILACS: In this class you will create your own backing papers and then your focal image using the latest Little Claire stamps and shades of lilac and pink
☺PM: EXQUISITE EARTHTONES – as for the morning but using different stamps and colours to achieve completely different results
