Birthday celebration day FIVE

Posted by Isabelle Norris on October 9, 2009

hello,

We are already on day five… how are you doing ?

Today, we are talking “Viva Decor“… I loooove those products and I’m not the only one. You try them, you love them…

There is so much in the Viva range that you are bound to find something you like. Here, I have used two of my favourite products: the Croco paint (which gives you a true amazing crakle) and the clay.

I’m very new to clay, 100% beginner, so those of you out there who have been “claying” for a while, will probably smile at what I do (I’m sure I will when I look back in a couple of years). In the meantime, I’m trying… learning, from my mistakes mainly but most importantly, I’m having great fun! At least, it will show you beginners out there, that if I can do it, you can too.

I’ll give you more details below but in the meantime, here’s where you can find today’s clue.

Look at what I did with clay below and especially the colours I have used. The clue is hidden “behind” one of the colours… like a stone.. it can be precious…happy hunting :)

Bonjour,

Christmas star

I used one of the stars in the altering section, painted it with Viva Decor Bi-color paint (purple gold), then covered it with the Viva Decor transparent Croco paint and let it dry over night. Then added a touch of Viva Decor Glitter gel (holo iridescent) for a touch of sparkle.

Made some beads with Viva Decor Pardo clay (and the bead rollers), attached them to the star as well as a ribbon and went in the basement especially for you, hunting for the white xmas tree to take a pretty picture :) . My daughter got uber excited thinking we were going to put the xmas trees up in the house!

PENDANT and beads

This next one is a work in progress. Made the pendant but for the beads I will probably use them for earings, or a handbag charm or something. I used three different colour clay here and the bead rollers.

Card

Finally, some of you might have already seen that one on my blog, but I wanted to post it here to show you the effect of the Ferro paint used with Dreamweaver stencils. I saw a card Sandy made when I was in the shop last month, and wanted to try too.

I use Ferro golden orange for the flower and butterfly along with a Dreamweaver stencil . On the frame (cut with Nestabilities and embossed with one of the latest Cuttlebug embossing folder, I used Viva Decor Precious Metal paint (orange yellow) and the orange Ferro too.

The background is inked with Nick Bantock Plum ink, and stamped with PaperArtsy mini stamps.

The die-cuts are from the Cuttlebug ornamental iron heat embossed with Disco Black embossing powder;

The Fairy is an printed image. Her wings are glittered with Stickles Platinum

SUE RODDIS WORKSHOPS

Posted by sandyweller on June 28, 2009

Workshops with Sue Roddis

We have the dates now for the workshops with Sue Roddis.  They are the last weekend in August – Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th.

Both are full day workshops and are priced at £35per person per day.  This includes all materials and unlimited drinks during the day.  Lunch is not included but this can be reserved at the coffee shop next door or there are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the village for you to try.

What will you be making on Saturday

I want to keep the actual projects a bit of a surprise for you for the day, so the snippet below gives you just a flavour of the project which is a faux metal book .
SR1

The project is made with foil rather than metal and the picture only shows one page – your book will have several pages.  You  will also be using different Paper Artsy stamps with the foil, inks, and other goodies.  There is flexibility and on the day you can choose alternative stamps and either go with the colours of Sue’s revised project sample or choose your own colour scheme.

What will you be making on Sunday

On Sunday the project involves one of our wooden desk calendars.  Below is a previous version that Sue has done.  This is just to tease you because again you will be making a different version on the day!

From this DESK CALENDAR

to this P1010315

You can only book by ringing us on 01342 836398 and places are limited so if you are interested you do need to get in touch,

Happy crafting!

Loads of new goodies!

Posted by sandyweller on June 10, 2009

Oh Boy do we have a load of new things for you!  You’ve already had a sneak peak at the Kadoodles so here’s a taster of the rest.  These are all available in store now,  some have already been added to the website and the rest will be over the next few days.

If you like the things to alter section you will love these- here’s just a little smattering of what we have added – set of three wooden flower pots, set of three wooden carrier bags, trio frame,  wine box, spinning tops, trains, boats and planes and loads more!

The Stamping Bella Kettos have arrived but you can only see these in store or mailorder catalogue as we are not allowed to sell these on line.

The new Kay Carley stamps are here and Kay will be working with these at the extravaganza.

The new Go Kreate dies are in including lots of new frames and the new Lingfield alphabet, a bride and groom outfit for Boo and a new fairy character who has accessories to collect like a toadstool and there will be other things coming!

We have added loads of colours of the Viva Precious Metal paints to our range plus the Viva Ferro paints which is a paste with metal filings in it that works on any surface and the Viva Terra paints these are ideal for transforming ordinary items into timeless and authentic looking terracotta treasures. (and would look lovely on the new wooden flower pots we have just got in!)

The Slice embossing tips are in and we have added even more of the design cards.

We have added more stamps from the Elusive Images range,  more from Stampavie, more from Rubber Romance,  more from Colour My World, the Smooch pearlescent inks (in those lovely bottles!), Personal Impressions clear stamps  and loads more too numerous to mention!

I’m sure there must be something there for everyone!

see you soon

OMG

Posted by sandyweller on May 28, 2009

Some of our regulars know that it has become a bit of an in joke that one of the ways Ian know how much I am spending is by the number of hooks left in the basket at the end of the day.  Not to be thwarted, fairly early on I sussed this and acquired some extra secret hooks (come on girls I am a crafter after all!) plus we had a basket of hooks we didn’t think worked with our display board.

So gearing up for next weekend we had used the secrete stash, worked out that we could use the others if we were selective about where we tried them but still ran out of hooks.  So we spoke to the supplier and agreed a hush, hush deal for more hooks only to find the only person who could actually go and pick them up was Ian!  All that secret work and today I had to fess up anyway.  The poor supplier today tried so hard not to drop us in it when Ian phone to arrange collection.  So Avril if you’re reading this nice try girl!

As for everyone else anybody know how sky hooks work coz we’ve run out of wall space now…..

See ya
