DESIGN A STAMP COMPETITION

Have you ever wanted to get into stamp designing and demoing and wondered how to go about it?   Then this is the competition for you!  We are looking for a new stamp designer to complement our team.  We ran a similar competition when we first opened and were lucky enough to find Sandra Dry and Christine Dark.  This time we are looking for someone with a completely different style to complement our team, so if you think your ideas are a bit different and would work as rubber stamps get drawing!

The winner will have their designs made up into rubber stamps and receive commission based on sales.  The winner will also get the chance to demo them at our next mini-fest in March 2010 for which we will pay our standard demo rate plus expenses.  This could be the start of regular demo appearances and design work for us but realistically you will need to have a basic understanding of English if you want to demo on an ongoing basis.

RULES

The  competition is open to residents of the UK and EU.

The closing date for entries is 5th December. 

Your entry must be your own original idea and work, not have been submitted to any other company or competition.  Please don’t copy other peoples’ designs and ideas or use “clip art” as this is a breach of copyright. 

Initially we will accept either original artwork or high res jpeg images as entries but if shortlisted we will need to see your original artwork. 

Entries can be submitted by post to : The Craft Barn Ltd, 9 East Grinstead Road, Lingfield, Surrey, RH7 6EP  please include an SAE if you want your designs returned to you.  Alternatively you can enter by email to : sandy@thecraftbarn.com

Birthday celebration: day SIX

And we come to the last day of our celebration week. I could not finish without sharing our amazing DT’s work. We are very lucky to be surrounded by a very talented team. Their styles are completely different, and that is what makes it so special. So I’m going to show you one card for each member. We will have a new member joining us very soon, but shhhh, can’t say more… you’ll have to wait until next week:)

Today, we are going to focus on stamps. If ... when you have been on the website, you know that we have a wiiiide range of stamps… Click here to get to that section. They are divided into two subsections: clear and rubber stamps.

So, what am I going to do to make you guess where the clue is? … last day, so not too easy peasy…

oh I know… what I call a “magic number” with my kids.

Each number is a letter of the alphabet (like… 1 is A – 2 is B – 3 is C etc….). So find those letters with the numbers below. This will give you an anagram of name of the stamps where the clue is hidden. You need two words for these stamps, so two anagrams.

Here are the magic numbers:

Nous voici au dernier jour de notre concours. Je ne pouvais pas finir cette semaine sans vous montrer les oeuvres de notre talentueuse DT. Nous avons beaucoup de chance d’être entourés de cette super équipe. Chaque style est différent ce qui est une véritable source d’inspiration pour vous visiteurs. Je vais donc vous montrer une carte par membre de la DT. Oh, et on va avoir une nouvelle recrue bientôt… mais je ne vous en dis pas plus, vous saurez ça la semaine prochaine 

Aujourd’hui, nous allons nous tourner vers la grande sélection de tampons que nous avons. Si…. quand vous êtes allés sur le site, vous avez pu remarquer qu’il y a vraiment beaucoup de choix. Cliquez ici pour les voir sur le site. Ils sont divisés en deux catégories: acrylique et caoutchouc.

Bon, comment je vais vous faire deviner l’indice aujourd’hui ? pas trop fastoche quand même

oh, je sais …..ce que j’appelle le nombre magique avec mes enfants.

Chaque nombre correspond à une lettre (1 pour A, 2 pour B, 3 pour C etc..). Trouvez les lettres qui correspondent au nombres ci-dessous. Cela vous donnera un anagramme, deux en fait, car la marque de tampon dont on parle ici a deux mots.  Vous trouverez l’indice dans cette catégorie.

We can’t celebrate without the Craft Barn’s own brand of stamps: Kadoodle. If you were at the Extravaganza, you were amongst the first to find out about the new Christmas designs. Christine and Sandra (Kadoodle designers) have made some beautiful samples we are sharing with you today.

But before I go, how about a riddle to find out our 4th clue… have fun!

Comment ça va en ce 4ème jour ?? Vous trouvez tous les indices? ce n’est pas vraiment difficile.

On ne peut pas fêter dignement sans les tampons du Craft Barn: Kadoodle. Les nouveaux designs de noel ont été présentés à l’Extravaganza et les designers, Christine et Sandra ont fait de superbes cartes que nous vous montrons ci-dessous.

En attendant, histoire de faire chauffer les neurones, une petite charade pour trouver le 4ème indice… Amusez-vous bien…

How are you doing so far… not too difficult… I think I might make it a teeny bit harder today… After all the first prize is a BIG prize… 

Today, I wanted to show you some of the altered calendars they have on display in the shop. I saw them when I flew to the Extravaganza, and they are beautiful!

This calendar is one of the product in our “Altering” section on the website… Loooots of fantastic items in there, which are fun to alter and great to offer (that if you can part with it of course   )

You can win one of those calendars in the 1st prize .

So here’s my question today…

On the first calendar below, Sue Roddis used some specific stamps. Now if you come here often, you know all about those stamps so it won’t be too hard for you, but today, you have to find those online and you will find your 3rd clue!

Comment ça vas jusqu’ici? Pas trop difficile? Je crois qu’il va falloir que je complique les choses un peu quand même. Après tout, ce 1er prix doit se mériter

Aujourd’hui, je voulais vous montrer les calendriers altérés qui sont exposés dans le magasin. Je les ai vus quand je suis allée au UK l’autre jour, et ils sont vraiment superbes.

Ces calendriers sont dans notre rubrique “Objets à altérer” sur le site. Il y a tout plein de choses super à altérer et qui peuvent devenir de beaux cadeaux à offrir (si vous arrivez à vous en séparer ). De plus, vous pouvez gagner un de ces calendriers si vous gagnez le 1er prix

Alors ma question aujourd’hui, qui sera peut-être un peu plus facile pour les Françaises. Cherchez quels sont les tampons utilisés sur le 1er calendrier ci-dessous, altéré par Sue Roddis. Quand vous les aurez trouvés sur le site, vous aurez votre 3ème indice.

Craft Barn competition

As promised, I come back to tell you more about the blog competition starting tomorrow.

This is open to anyone who wants to play (other than DT members and Craft Barn staff and designers obviously).

Each day, we will show you samples made by our tutors or Design Team members featuring specific products. You will have to find one of this product online and in the description you will find a clue written in red.

Keep this clue each day, you will need it for the final answer on Sunday. You do not have to submit anything to us during the week. Only on the Sunday. Although we will appreciate comments  each day

Here’s a example of what the clue will look like in the description. Click here to see it.

This is JUST an example and does not count for the competition.

On Sunday, you will have gathered several letters and a number. We will tell you then what to do

There will be a draw for three winners. The first one will receive a prize (retail value: over £100). The two other winners will receive vouchers (£20 and £15).

Tous les indices de la semaine vous permettront d’obtenir la réponse finale que nous vous demanderons Dimanche.
