NEW DESIGN TEAM MEMBER

We are really pleased to announce that Kay Carley has agreed to be part of our Design Team.  Kay has been a wonderful support to us right from the start, by being our first demonstrator when Ian and I took over.  She puts up with all my mistakes with great humour and there have been several!  We have always thought of Kay as an integral part of the team here and we really missed her when she wasn’t able to be with us for one of our extravaganzas due to some health problems.  Including her as part of our DT is our way of acknowledging how much we appreciate her ongoing association with The Craft Barn.  Kay has just released theifrst in a series of three DVD’s through the Publishers of Craft Stamper, click here for more info.

DESIGN A STAMP COMPETITION

Have you ever wanted to get into stamp designing and demoing and wondered how to go about it?   Then this is the competition for you!  We are looking for a new stamp designer to complement our team.  We ran a similar competition when we first opened and were lucky enough to find Sandra Dry and Christine Dark.  This time we are looking for someone with a completely different style to complement our team, so if you think your ideas are a bit different and would work as rubber stamps get drawing!

The winner will have their designs made up into rubber stamps and receive commission based on sales.  The winner will also get the chance to demo them at our next mini-fest in March 2010 for which we will pay our standard demo rate plus expenses.  This could be the start of regular demo appearances and design work for us but realistically you will need to have a basic understanding of English if you want to demo on an ongoing basis.

RULES

The  competition is open to residents of the UK and EU.

The closing date for entries is 5th December. 

Your entry must be your own original idea and work, not have been submitted to any other company or competition.  Please don’t copy other peoples’ designs and ideas or use “clip art” as this is a breach of copyright. 

Initially we will accept either original artwork or high res jpeg images as entries but if shortlisted we will need to see your original artwork. 

Entries can be submitted by post to : The Craft Barn Ltd, 9 East Grinstead Road, Lingfield, Surrey, RH7 6EP  please include an SAE if you want your designs returned to you.  Alternatively you can enter by email to : sandy@thecraftbarn.com

New look website

That’s it! the new look website is up and running. I’m sure many of you have already been on there and we do hope you like it as much as we do.

Ca y est, le site et son nouveau look sont en place. Je suis sûre que beaucoup d’entre vous l’on remarqué et nous espérons que vous l’aimerez autant que nous.

Tant que j’ai votre attention, je voulair re-préciser quelques petites choses (car j’ai toujours des questions).

Toute  la navigation du site est en français: il suffit juste de cliquer sur l’onglet “choose language” en haut à gauche et vous pouvez changer. Pour tous les renseignements sur les frais de port etc…  cliquez sur “livraison” dans le menu marron en haut. Pour toute autre question, cliquez sur “Aide” toujours dans ce même menu. Si toutefois vous ne trouvez pas vos réponses, contactez-moi à isabelle@thecraftbarn.co.uk. Je vous répondrai dès que possible.

WHAT’S NEW?

So we do have a brand new banner and new look… you already know the little owl…which is more in keeping with our shop being based in a 16th century barn!

Nous avons une donc une nouvelle bannière et un nouveau look… nous connaissez déjà la petite chouette . Le tout étant plus dans l’esprit de l’endroit où se situe le magasin: un bâtiment du 16ème siècle…

Then, when you get in the products (like here in the Cosmic Shimmer gorgeous Lustre embossing powders), you will see that they are listed next to each other now, instead of a long list going down. Also on the left, you have the submenu showing in dark brown. You can then easily change the section.

Puis, quand vous allez voir un produit spécifique (comme ici les poudres à embosser Lustre Cosmic Shimmer), vous voyez les images les unes à côté des autres, au lieu d’une longue liste verticale. Aussi, à gauche, vous avez maintenant un sous-menu, en marron foncé qui reste affiché et qui vous permet de changer de catégorie plus facilement.

You also notice that you can now share any favourite product very easily with the “share” button. Use it on emails, google, facebook, twitter etc…. you can even print it or add it to your favourites: you have 153 options in all. LOVE this new gadget myself )

You will also see that when you add it to your favourites, the little owl will be there too, as a symbol for the Craft Barn

Vous remarquerez aussi, quand vous êtes sur le site que vous trouverez souvent le “share” button pour partager avec les copines, sur votre blog, facebook, Twitter, ajouter à vos favoris,  envoyer par email, ou même imprimer la page en question (il y a 153 options en tout!). Carrément cool, j’adore ce gadget!!

En parlant de favoris, si vous mettez le site du Craft Barn dans vos favoris, vous verrez que la petite chouette vous suit aussi

Craft Barn competition

As promised, I come back to tell you more about the blog competition starting tomorrow.

This is open to anyone who wants to play (other than DT members and Craft Barn staff and designers obviously).

Each day, we will show you samples made by our tutors or Design Team members featuring specific products. You will have to find one of this product online and in the description you will find a clue written in red.

Keep this clue each day, you will need it for the final answer on Sunday. You do not have to submit anything to us during the week. Only on the Sunday. Although we will appreciate comments  each day

Here’s a example of what the clue will look like in the description. Click here to see it.

This is JUST an example and does not count for the competition.

On Sunday, you will have gathered several letters and a number. We will tell you then what to do

There will be a draw for three winners. The first one will receive a prize (retail value: over £100). The two other winners will receive vouchers (£20 and £15).

Chaque jour, nous vous montrerons des exemples de carte faites par nos designers et membres de la DT. Chaque jour, nous parlerons de produits spécifiques et vous devrez trouver un de ces produits sur notre site. Ceci vous apportera un indice qu’il vous faudra garder précieusement. Rien ne vous empêche par contre de laisser un comm sur les réas chaque jour

Tous les indices de la semaine vous permettront d’obtenir la réponse finale que nous vous demanderons Dimanche.

Yup, our website is ONE (can’t believe I’m writing that) !! Where has the year gone !??

And how much has it grown in a full year??

So we are starting the celebrations with FREE UK POSTAGE this weekend starting today at 8pm until Sunday evening midnight.
