Hi,
We talked about heat embossing and embossing powders the other day. Today, we will focus on dry embossing, whether it’s with the Cuttlebug or Crafts Too embossing folders, the Nestabilities (or other “bilities”: shape, impress, shape, border..) and of course with the brass stencils. You can find them all online if you click on the product names.
“With us” today are Poupette, Kiki and Christine Dark who used the Cuttlebug embossing folders and the Nestabilities.
Thanks for visiting and don’t forget that you can leave a comment below (always appreciated) and ask questions if you need to.

hello,
We continue with our embossing powder theme with more cards from the Design Team with today a card from Carole Cann too where she used UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel).
You probably already know the Ranger one but did you know that Cosmic Shimmer has a wide range of UTEE, well…. they call them Crystals (not enamel), so that makes it UTEC then I guess
Click here to see the colours we have in the shop. You can also read the UTEE masterclass that I have written for the Craft Stamper December issue out this week, using both UTEE and UTEC, with or without the melting pot.
Anyway, back to the cards…
Thanks for visiting

Hi,
Have you ever tried acetate cards yet ? Those a bit more challenging but fun to make.
Here’s a couple made by Poupette and myself, hoping they will inspire you.
Confession: I have run out of acetate, yet had to make a transparent card, so I used clear shrink plastic instead… Works just the same (as long as you don’t try to heat emboss it
)
Thanks for popping by and for your comments too
You can find shrink plastic, acetate and vellum HERE

We are really pleased to announce that Kay Carley has agreed to be part of our Design Team. Kay has been a wonderful support to us right from the start, by being our first demonstrator when Ian and I took over. She puts up with all my mistakes with great humour and there have been several! We have always thought of Kay as an integral part of the team here and we really missed her when she wasn’t able to be with us for one of our extravaganzas due to some health problems. Including her as part of our DT is our way of acknowledging how much we appreciate her ongoing association with The Craft Barn. Kay has just released theifrst in a series of three DVD’s through the Publishers of Craft Stamper, click here for more info.
Click the link on the right to go to Kay’s blog.
Thanks for visiting

Have you ever wanted to get into stamp designing and demoing and wondered how to go about it? Then this is the competition for you! We are looking for a new stamp designer to complement our team. We ran a similar competition when we first opened and were lucky enough to find Sandra Dry and Christine Dark. This time we are looking for someone with a completely different style to complement our team, so if you think your ideas are a bit different and would work as rubber stamps get drawing!
The winner will have their designs made up into rubber stamps and receive commission based on sales. The winner will also get the chance to demo them at our next mini-fest in March 2010 for which we will pay our standard demo rate plus expenses. This could be the start of regular demo appearances and design work for us but realistically you will need to have a basic understanding of English if you want to demo on an ongoing basis.
RULES
The competition is open to residents of the UK and EU.
The closing date for entries is 5th December.
Your entry must be your own original idea and work, not have been submitted to any other company or competition. Please don’t copy other peoples’ designs and ideas or use “clip art” as this is a breach of copyright.
Initially we will accept either original artwork or high res jpeg images as entries but if shortlisted we will need to see your original artwork.
Entries can be submitted by post to : The Craft Barn Ltd, 9 East Grinstead Road, Lingfield, Surrey, RH7 6EP please include an SAE if you want your designs returned to you. Alternatively you can enter by email to : sandy@thecraftbarn.com
Please mark your entries “DESIGN A STAMP COMPETITION”
Good luck!
Sandy
